I Was Supervising QPs Before I Was Ready. Here's What I Wish I Had

I started working in community mental health in 2009. And like a lot of clinicians in this field, I was handed responsibilities before I felt fully equipped to carry them. I remember being tasked with supervising Qualified Professionals while I was still an associate therapist myself. Nervous didn't begin to explain how I felt.

I was doing my best — we all were. But I was spending so much mental energy trying to keep up with documentation, track supervisee progress, and manage my own caseload that I had very little left for the actual work of supervision. The work I actually wanted to do.

What I know now — and what I wish I had known then — is that the administrative burden of clinical supervision does not have to be carried manually. AI tools exist today that can help clinical supervisors organize session notes, track supervisee development, prepare for supervision meetings, and manage documentation in a fraction of the time.

This is not about replacing the clinical relationship. It is about protecting it. When you are not drowning in paperwork, you show up differently for your supervisees. You are present. You are prepared. You are the supervisor you always intended to be.

If you are a clinical supervisor who is stretched thin right now — I want you to know that it does not have to feel this hard. There are tools that can help. And I can show you exactly how to use them in a way that fits your real workflow.

That is why I built GrowthWise Studios Consulting. Because I have been where you are. And I know what a difference the right systems can make.
